1:72 Hasegawa Mitsubishi Zero (Imperial Japanese navy )
« on: September 11, 2009, 07:22:26 am »
Mitsubishi A6M3 ZERO-SEN Type 22 and 32 (zeke)

This is another vintage model I built; I found the pair at model expo ‘09’ in a swap sell for $5 in a plastic bag. There were notes written on the instructions and some parts cut off the sprew and cleaned. It was an out of the box build but some small parts were missing and were easily built out of styrene. At the time I also bought someone’s bits box and found two different Japanese 1:72 ww2 pilots sitting down which were added to the cock pit. I researched the colors and painted them as historically correct as possible. I also tried the salt weathering on one and liquid mask on the other. The decals were really poor and fell apart in water so I also bought nice after market decals off Hobby Link Japan. I’m very happy with the finished results…

I saved this poor kit from ending up in someones bits box...

im alwayz surprised with ur 'vintage' creations... i guess thats the right word :S . but yeh... very impressive! it literally looks like it has been aged like, a while ago. like, it waz built in 1990 and then found again via cleaning up :P .

I do not think this model is worthy of its own thread so I chucked him here. I found this guy in a bargin bin for two dollars as is with out a package or anything. I know nothing about it but had fun painting him, I was requested to finish a wargamming scale figure for a show which won second. What I find weird is my figure painting skills have grown though build mech kits?

Wow! He looks great! Nice paint work! How'd you do the snow?
When the going gets tough, the weird go pro.
