Has there ever really been a bad Gundam?
« on: April 10, 2009, 07:31:16 am »
It hit my thise monring that while I really don't like Gundam Wing by Gundam standards, by conventional anime standards(1995) it's really not that bad. The characters maybe be one dimensional to avoid wasting time with character development, but it's really not that bad. I really don't like it for numerous (good) reasons but by Gundam standards it's not that bad.

Has there ever really been a bad Gundam series? I heard that V Gundam was disliked by it's creators  but in your opinion has there ever really been a bad Gundam series by gundam standards.

I mean sure 0080's plot of a special ops unit using a little kid doesnt make alot of sense but that doesnt matter because it has the kampfer in it lol.

About half the fandom that's seen it is torn over ZZ Gundam.  I don't really like it, personally.  But it's all subjective, for any given series.  I personally thought Seed Destiny was pretty bad, especially compared to Seed, but there are people with the opposite opinion, etc etc...

The SD Gundam show.

Apart from that, I've enjoyed all the Gundam series.

I found V Gundam to be quite nice and fits some how into the tail end of the UC calender, ZZ is alright but a bad sub can destroy a good thing...

I really dislike X Gundam (very dry story line with nothing going for it), Seed Destiny and Wing are half arsed but watch-able...

Update:

Quote
Due perhaps to a lack of interest, Gundam X was cut short by 10 episodes and its timeslot was switched to a dismal Saturday morning 6 am after 26 episodes. As a result, this show received the lowest Japanese viewership rating out of all Gundam TV shows at an average of 2.8 (a record that would later on be broken by SD Gundam Force, which made 2.1). It also marked the end almost 4 straight years of weekly Gundam broadcast and was the last Gundam series to be aired on TV Asahi.

I would have to say SD Gundam too. I just couldn't get into the SD Gundams. A series I didn't like too much was Destiny, to me the first half of the series was pretty good but the second half I didn't like. I think they tried to put too much stuff in Destiny.

The SD Gundam series really is a bit hard to swallow, other than that the series is good (even liked Destiny :o)

But if your gonna count it, G Savior is pretty much horrible in the plot and ruins the essence of the Gundam series (though I gotta admit, the mechs look good)
