1/114th HG Gouf Custom (i.e. Norris Packard Custom)
1998 production
Beginner Level
Managable parts #

This was a very fun kit to build, and was rather simple, and easy to construction. If you've ever assembled a HG series 1/44th kit you know what to expect, its basically all symmetrical, no internal frame and what is basically a modular system of joints and polycaps.

The body itself was the symettrical Zaku type assembly that you would expect, but the weapons are what I really admired about this kit, they were unique, and were assembled in a very clever way. the 3-barrel hand gattling mounts onto the right arm, with a peg and hole in the arm. There is another hole in the rear of the gattling, which the pegs in the two shields can mount ontop of. So the arm weapons fit onto each other in the manner you want them. You get two shields, a basic sheild, and the gattling shield. The kit also includes the traditional gattling gun hand that you will remember from the original Gouf, and even if it might never be used its still a nice touch.

Painting was fairly easy, save the two yellow trianglular panels on the chest which I found a bit difficult. In retrospect I should have just painted the decals and used those. the clear coating really gives this model alot.

If I had to give it a number it'd be 7/10, a fun kit to build, but its very simple.

UPDATE:In retrospect this kit was still alot of fun to make, and would be a good mental health build, but the kit is just very simple and not that detailed, but still enough paneling to be annoying. New review number: 5/10 or like C-

I just completed my second HG GOuf Custom kit and I can say this:

It is VERY primitive, inarticulate, cheaply made and lacking many other amenities afforded by even other HG grade kits.

Granted this kit was made in 1998 I still found it primitive, and with the gatling shield cast as a single part, it makes painting very difficult.

Its a good mental health/beginning kit but overall I will not be doing another one, it's pretty bad.
