I painted the pieces a nice baby blue and masked for the red. I opted not to shade the pieces because looking at the color it had a natural sort of gradient to it and I felt that it was sufficient. If it ain't broke...

Masked for yellow and gray. I used a neutral gray for the hands/backpack and desert yellow for the yellow parts because I wanted to keep it more realistic.

Weathering. The pieces were so small I really didn't know how any of it would look or what I should do. The scale is just so extreme I figured that from any sort of distance major changes in color of damage wouldn't be noticeable except between pieces like the shield and foot etc. So I used a 0 brush and Gunmetal and tried to be conservative. I used a Sakura Pigma Micron pen and a q-tip to simulate burn damage and gradients on the corners.

Somehow the surface was still very imperfect. Thankfully it looked sort of passable like battle damage so some of the weathering is directly hiding visible flaws. Perfection is impossible so I merely try to maintain the illusion of it.

I put the metal stickers on the joints and head and it was ready to go!

This being my first time painting a really, really small scale miniature I didn't know what to expect. I think the result is good and I am very happy the metal parts look appropriate. The weathering on the other hand is just tough. The next two will be better but overall I am happy with the result.
And now... In anticipation of your insight into the future...

Finally! I've been waiting to see what this would look like when it came together. And it's finally starting to! Everything looks really, really good Nick.

I'd only offer up one small suggestion: maybe use a little bit of neutral gray as a wash to bring out the bulges in the lower legs? I think their contours are being lost in the teeny-tiny scale. Again--that's just a suggestion. Do with it what you will.

Can't wait to see the rest!

Thanks Zero. I took a look at the legs and tried to figure out how I would wash it but there aren't any crevices or anything for the wash to flow into. I'm really bad at weathering so I don't do anything unless I know it will look OK. Maybe a light dusting with a weathering kit will bring out the contours...
