Are the models entered in the contest in the Gallery or are they first "graded" then put out for the public to see?

They're in the Gallery, but there's no special way to distinguish them from other models. That's something we will definitely consider as a site enhancement, though.

I can tell you this: We're almost there. I could post a list of winners right now, but it would be an incomplete list, as we haven't sorted them out for all the different categories yet. As soon as we do, you bet we'll post 'em here.

I'm assuming that the winner in the open expert category already knows it's him? Seeing that he needs to be in Honk Kong in the next couple weeks I'd think he'd be the only winner to receive some kind of early notification.

A boxed model kit is like your dreams. They'll never be what you want them to be unless you make it happen.

Yes, the grand prize winner has been notified and travel arrangements have been booked. We're currently working out some final details on the winners, and then we'll make the announcement--which shouldn't be much more than a day from now (at the longest--I hope?).

Congrats to all the winners!!! Well deserved and all your hard work has paid off!

Good luck to mtomczek for his awesome win! Go to Hong Kong and kick some @SS!

Is there a way to see ALL the models entered in the contests, not only the ones that won?

Gimme a little bit of time. I can probably put that together in a message board post. Since I'll be pulling it by hand from the judges pages, the less information I have to copy-paste, the better. Is everyone okay with me just posting the following format?

Model Name (modeler)

That's perfectly fine for me. ;)

When will the prizes be announced? I'm curious to see who won what.

Well... you already know what the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners get. We're sorting out the rest of the prizes, but I'll let you know about them as soon as I get details.

Also, according to Sean at HobbyWave, these trophies are a one-year deal (we likely won't be seeing something similar in 2009), so they'll definitely be highly prized items.  :)

I was actually a little surprised at how the trophies were distributed. I did'nt think there would be 3 expert category winners. I actually thought the 2nd and 3rd would have gone to advanced and intermediate. I guess that's because the rules layout says there would only be 2 winners in expert. 1 for open and 1 for junior.

We should have updated the site information to clarify that. I believe that the trophies were announced and sent (from Bandai?) after the rules had been drafted. And, because there were three trophies (1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze), it would look really weird to distribute those over different modeling classes. Thus, the decision was made to make three top picks in the Expert class.

At the rate my day is going, I'm probably not going to get the contestants list posted until Monday--hopefully I'll some prize announcements by then, too.

And in case you're wondering, some categories didn't have Jr. class winners because there were no Jr. entries. On a related note, I think I'll try to break down the contestant listing by class--for the convenience of the reader.

And we're already acknowledging that we need to get our proverbial ducks in a row much sooner for 2009!  ;)
