BAKUC 2008 North America (deadline 11/20!!!!)
« on: October 29, 2008, 02:52:06 pm »
That's right! The word just came down from above that the deadline for entries for the North American BAKUC Semi-Finals is November 20th 2008. Not much notice, but hopefully you guys have been working on your entries this past year and just waiting to click the enter button when it appears.

Just go to the following link, log-in (or register), select one of your kits from the gallery and click the "Enter Contest" button. That's it!

As a little added incentive, here's a look at the trophies:

Calling them "unique" would be an understatement!

I read the contest rules, but I could'nt see anything about scratchbuilds.

I was wondering if it would be okay to enter my Magus: The Propagation scratchbuild when I'm done. Magus is a boss from .Hack and I believe is owned by Bandai since the game has the Bandai logo on it. Would it qualify for the semi-final?

Thank you for the info. Now I just have to get it finished up for the contest.

Sorry, but the North American BAKUC is open only to modelers living in the USA or Canada.  ???

What time on the 20th do we have to get our entries submitted? I'll be lucky if I can get it done and entered before midnight on the 20th.

I'm asking becasue the timer in the site makes it seem like midnight of the 19th is the deadline. Or did I read it wrong?

« Reply #8 on: November 17, 2008, 11:08:23 pm »
so i have uploaded and entered the contest. when i clicked on enter the contest, it didn't give me any option to choose which Category to enter.. i wanted to to enter expert category, is it all the same thing and doesnt matter what category you enter?

can i enter more than 1 model in the contest?

and last, all pictures are not edited at all, besides resizing and color correction, and watermarked with my personal logo, which appears in most of my works, if theres any problem, please let me know

thanks in advance!

In order to be entered in the Expert categroy, you need to list yourself as an expert modeler in your profile, by doing the following steps:
View/Edit Profile -> EDIT PROFILE -> 2) How would you classify your modeling experience? Expert -> Save

You also need to enter your location. I remind everyone that the North American BAKUC is open only to modelers living in the United States or Canada. If you falsify your location in order to be eligible, you will be disqualified and stripped of any BAKUC award you may have won. Plus, we're going to point out that you're a big, fat liar.  ;)

Yes.

Watermarks should be okay. Color correction and resizing of photos are permitted, but no other image modification is permitted. If you use photo editing software to hide a seam or obscure a sloppy paint job, you're not doing anyone any good--and you will be disqualified.

Well, looks like I didn't make it in time again. Submitted a lower entry instead. I sort of wished that the announcement came at least 2 months ahead of time because it would have given me more time to prepare. My problem was that I'm not able to recast some of my parts in time and it's such a busy time with school right now. At least I'll have next year's entry done early.

The entry period has closed for the 2008 North American BAKUC. Judging is in progress, and you can expect a winner to (hopefully) be announced sometime next week.

Thank you to all who participated--there's some exceptional works in there, which makes the judging process tough!

Any news on the results yet? I know it's a little early still, but I'm anxious to see who won in all the categories.
