Upcoming Gunpla News (Post it here)
« on: February 22, 2008, 07:31:01 am »
Quote from: gunota
MG Gelgoog Ver. 2.0 - mass-production type, April
MG Strike Gundam + Sword Striker & Launcher Striker - April, 5,250 yen
HG Gundam Nadleeh - April, 1,260 yen
HG Gundam Throne Drei - April, 1,680 yen
BB Senshi Sangokuden Koumei Re-GZ - April, 630 yen
In Action!! Offshoot Guren Mk II - Summer
In Action!! Offshoot Gloucester - Cornelia custom, Summer
GFF Gundam Mk III - May

From Gunota Headlines. While I'm sick of the Strike recolors/variations, the MG Strike is a good solid kit and it's about time they made MG versions of the Sword and Launcher.

I agree. I don't have a MG Strike yet. I like the IWSP, but it really hurts the great poseability of the kit. The Sword Strike would make really good use of the Strike's frame.  8)

I followed the link and found this comment interesting:

"Since it's still under development, there's no photo available (You should know how RX-78-2 looks like for sure. How much can Bandai divert from the original design anyway? ^^;)"

How much, indeed?  Take a look at the PG Gundam or the ver. OYW for the answer.  Even the HGUC Gundam, which omits most of the detailing that was added to the MG and PG kits is still decidedly modern in its form and proportions.  Most people seem to consider everything that's already been changed about the Gundam as a change for the better, and as a result they ignore the fact that it was changed at all.  But these "modern renditions" of the Gundam are significantly different from the original design - and you can't chalk all that up to animation errors in the original TV show.  They just redefined the Gundam's look over the years.

My usual theory about the MG Gundam ver. 2.0 is that it will cast off some of the redesigned stuff and go for a new redesign, but one that's more in the spirit of the original design - much like how the MG Zaku v2.0 cast off the 1995 redesign by Okawara and resulted in something somewhat closer to the original Zaku...

That would mean that the 2.0 would exist to cater to those who want something along the lines of the original design (but still somewhat modernized, well-engineered, etc.) and kits like the OYW and ver. Ka would continue to be sold for those who want something more intricate looking...

I would have to say that you are most likley right on this Geroge, The zaku does look very classic, the biggest change was the function and mobility. The new 2.0 Kits are basically little perfect grades in the sence of having nice full skeletons and level of detail. I'm sure the results for the 2.0 Gundam are going to be great, and I'm looking forward to see how well they can make it move.

Yeah, hoof feet forever!  :D

I stocked right up on 1.0's during the Amazon sale...  three GMs and three Gundams.  I think that supply of hoof feet should last me a while.  :)  I wish I'd loaded up on Zakus while I was at it...
