surprisingly (to me) no one said seed or seed destiny. Some of the comments ive seen around the site are of people hating seed/destiny. I love seed and destiny b/c its not all about fighting and BANG IM GONNA KILL U BOOM IM GONNA DESTROY U.
No, Seed has that, but it's really more about filler and animation reuse.

Oh! Something interesting happened! Let's spend six minutes getting separate reactions to the event from a dozen different characters... There's a quarter of our episode down, and with minimal animation costs!
in seed/destiny if [n]yo[/n]u actually pay attention and try to get at what they are saying, there's greater meaning. They talk about values, morals, and the series has taught me to rethink things in life.
Maybe - but then it all gets undermined when the tiny nation of Orb shows up with their handful of ships and fights for their ideals against
everyone else, never compromises anything, and wins. It's like the start of Destiny - there was all this political tension and strife - it was great stuff. But then the three-ships alliance just rolled over everybody again. Complete waste of a good start to the series.
I also heard that some people don't like the mobile suits/gundams. I think they're all awesome. Sure some of em are a bit overpowered, but isn't that what Wing Zero, High Nu, and Sazabi are like?
Wing Zero is comparable to the sort of overpowered junk that we saw with Freedom and Strike Freedom. Units like Nu and Sazabi were powerful and their pilots very formidable - the difference was more in their opposition, which represented a much more credible threat.
Another one is that they think main character Kira Yamato sucks... I know this is based on my own personal bias, but he is my favorite character/ hero of all time. Sure he's kinda rigged/godly but even winners lose (just watch GSD). It is sort of unfair to have him on your side of a Gundam fight, but isn't that what Amuro Ray, Heero, and Char are like? aren't they good ms pilots too?
Amuro and Kira started off in more or less the same position - reluctant warriors, feeling the stress and peril of every battle, not too keen on killing people, etc. Ultimately they both grew into the role. The difference is that Amuro, despite being able to defeat his enemies, never took that for granted. Kira, when he got the Freedom, started the whole "no killing" thing - and never seemed to face any particular consequences as a result. He regularly dispatched enemies by the dozen by crippling their MS. Basically his advantage over the enemy became so huge that he not only
blatantly dominated the enemy, but he gave himself a
handicap, too - and still came out on top. That's just not exciting, IMO.
Even if Amuro blew up every Rick Dom that came his way, even if he started counting them off, his world never worked such that he could have pulled his punches and still expect to survive. That's a big part of making a mecha show exciting, IMO. In reality, the enemy is just a bunch of jokers whose sole reason for existence is to get shot down by the hero to make him look good - that's a basic staple of mecha anime, it's part of how you make the hero (and villain) exciting for the audience in the first place. But even so, they have to
appear to be a credible threat. Otherwise, getting shot down by the hero isn't terribly impressive.
