1/72nd ov-10D Bronco "Desert Storm"
« on: July 07, 2008, 12:56:04 am »
This is a thread on the 1/72nd ov-10d Bronco "Desert Storm" By Academy hobby model kits...

***Please note: Not a Bandai kit and modeled off the real war thing from Desert Storm and Vietnam. Reason of modeling this to test out and learn how to air brush which I attended lessons on at a model expo. Reason for posting I had a lot of fun with this kit and want to compare the difference from a mech kit.***

Profile
Name: ov-10D Bronco.
Grade/ Size: 1/72nd no grade.
Modeling leve: Intermediate.
Parts: 120 parts including clear parts and decals.
Inner frame/ transformable: Fully detailed cockpit with landing gear departments. Propeller can spin and landing gear can be modeled up or down. Different choices of fixed weapons.

First war plane kit I have made in several years to practices a new type of weathering using MIG Pigments and learning to air brushing. So far building the kit I have found parts to be very weak but extremely detailed. Weight had to be added to the nose of the model to prevent the back being heavy and the kit not to stand on its landing gear. Seam lines are a real problem but it wasn't made as a snap kit in mind so I had to over come this. The cockpit needed to be painted before I glue the fuselage together then masked before I start airbrushing...

The kit was very well molded with no flash marks and everything fitting together perfectly. There are a lot of very small and thin parts that can be very easily lost or broken. The kit come with very nice decals and detailed enough not to require any after market parts...

Very cheap but a lot of fun at $15au or $10us over the net if one would like to build it. The detail can be compared to a MG and when finished will look awesome. Will post pictures when finished...
