WIP: HGUC Hazel-NT kitbash
« on: September 01, 2008, 08:28:04 pm »
Hi all, my first time posting here :D

I had a few HGUC scraps back, consisting of NT-1, Quel/Hazel and Ground Type Gundam parts. so after some brainstorming, this is what i came up with:

It's a bit lacking in neck articulation, since Hazel head is a bit bigger than NT-1 head. So I took a discarded FG Strike's torso, then cut away the neck mount:

I used the cut neck joint as replacement for the existing polycap neck joint of the torso. this raised the head by about 2mm and gave enough clearance for movement and changed the "neckless" look. see before and after images:

   ===>

It's a wonder how a millimeter or so of clearance makes a difference :P Then I replaced the thighs with that of Quel's to make it look more balanced:

Then I just added a part of a vernier to the neck joint where it was too thin, for a more solid look:

===>

Also made some minor surgery on the crotch armor, to allow a bit more movement in the thighs and legs:

Some preliminary work on the sniper rifle, mid-ranged projectile type. I kit-bashed a Zaku I machine gun and a barrel of a RX-79(G) 180mm cannon. will add bipod, clip for ammo and a stock:

===>

Now for my initial mods for beefing up the sniper rifle body. The yellow rods are from Hazel kits, secured to plaplates using super glue and some epoxy putty:

Support beam underneath rifle body added:

Preliminary work on sniper scope:

Cut up barrel of old 1/144 GP03S beam rifle

Mock up mount:

I'm still looking for suitable sight for the sniper scope (what you see here is just the front end.)

Still a lot of work on this one. Will post updates soon ;) Comments and suggestions are very much welcome. Thanks for looking! :D

I really like the direction you're going with this. And I think the way in which you've documented it through your photos will (hopefully) encourage other folks to try similar modifications in the future!

Looks great so far!

thank you for the kind words sir! :) my worries actually are my painting skills, i'm afraid i've only done hand brushing and some spraypainting, no airbrushing skills yet. hopefully i can pull off a decent paint job on this one :) thanks again for looking!

so many cutting and glueing done for so little mods/results ::) oh well on with the details :D

here's the scope, used a lollipop stick for the main shaft. the front end is the cut up barrel of the scrap GP03S rifle, and for the viewfinder i used the original Zaku I machine gun scope:

for the sniper rifle body, i cut up the upper section of the scrap rifle's body:

then i mounted it on top of the sniper rifle:

i am aiming to finish the sniper rifle this week, with just few details and the butt stock to be added, so i can continue work on the MS again. comments/suggestions are as usual most welcome. thanks for viewing! :D
