Well all,
I'm not sure if I post this here, just like my shuttlecraft cuttlefish build, but here goes. This is my kind of WIP of my star cruiser. I didn't really take too many photos along the way as there wasn't really much to show. I took the battleship Missourri (interestingly where the U.S. and Japan signed a peace treaty in WWII) a kit made by REVELL, (copyrighted in the 50's which explained the casting level) and basically just retrofitted it for space. Or what I imagine space retrofitting would look like. I reshaped the hull to be larger and allow for more crew quarters and space, added a south control deck, some laser turrets, a mega particle cannon, and then made an engine that ports to the stern thrusters. The stern of my ship used to be the bow of the missourri. The casting quality is somewhat lacking, and the plastic is old and brittle. It was difficult to fill the cracks and seal this beast up, and since the plasitc is brittle where I don't want, and flexible where I don't want, it made the putty process a nightmare. This is as good as I'm probably going to be able to get it for now. I might do some repainting later on, add some decals, and maybe try to fill the last of the not so bad seams, but not today. The little stand is just some thick plexiglass I had layin around that I dremeled into the shape I want and glued it together. I flat coated the bottom to make it look somewhat nice, and I glued some foam parts on the parts that support the hull as to not scratch the paint. The ship does have a little battle damage as this ship is almost constantly battling space pirates and broken helix horde, but nothing too serious. the "door" on the side of the ship is the rather large hangar door leading to the hangar I'm also constructing. A gelbrecht would be about half as tall as the little door, perhaps a third as tall. The catapults for the mecha and ships are inside the hangars so they can be protected when not launching. Sorry my photos are crappy, I painted the bottom of the hull so dark that it clashes with the black background, and my lighting sucks as all my lamps are in the garage right now. I'll set it all up later for a better photo shoot. Well for now enjoy!
starting point:

tried making a hull but it looked dumb:

better hull and dark primer

painted and battle damaged, but no decals or pastels yet, and yes my masking did neat some work. I can fix it later.
