HG 1/144 Zaku Warrior (Battle damage scene)
« on: July 25, 2010, 07:08:50 am »
Hey guys I got bored and wanted to do a scene with my Zaku, with battle damage. I made the HG 1/144 Zaku Warrior awhile ago. I used yellow and black color theme for him. I tried to do some weathering and battle damage on him. This is my first ever doing this to a Gundam. I used sand paper, electric drill, and a lighter. I just played around with it. I thought it came out pretty good. I want to make a rocky dessert base scene with it. Have it laying down with its shield half buried. I'm hoping soon I can work on the base for it. Just need to find some time. I will keep y'all posted.

So I got some styrofoam and played around with the shapes that I wanted. I then hot glued them into place and waited for it to dry. I used tissue paper and glue to make a paper mache over it. The tissue is soft and flexible to give a good texture. I did 50/50 water and glue. I beleive I got it a little to runny but it worked. Just had to let it sit over night to dry. Then I wanted to get a more earth feel to it so i grabbed some small rocks and sand, which i mixed with glue. Then i applied it to the display.

'm debating on what colors I want to use. A red dessert or a dark drown.............

So I made sure it was good and dry before I painted it. I first painted a black coat, then I lightly missed a gray which will bring out the cracks and lines in the rocks. I used a rust brown and then a light tan drown. I just missed them. I was really not trying to get a heavy one color coat on it.

I added some green to it, to give it some color. And weathered the gundam up so it looks like it has been there for awhile. Please comment on what you think!!!! Thanks
