Unable to hold heavy weapons?
« on: June 08, 2010, 04:19:15 pm »
hi

well im particularly stuck on my PG 00, where his arm automatically drops down when holding the trans-am gn sword 3 (main body to arm joint, so it moves vertically down when i try to hold the sword up),
i usually do a extra coating of paint for my MG's and that stiffins the joint, unfortunatly it doesn't work on the PG. : (

any suggestions would be awesome since its annoying me -_-

I have noticed that many have discovered small magnets to help hold positions w/Gunpla.  This is a area of concern w/PG since we are dealing with larger parts that the structure must hold.  Look around on the web and you will see where magnets are available for this purpose.  I f I remember, I will reply again where I saw them!  I am talking about really small ones, I have used them before in other model applications from Easy Built Models.com, hope this has been of help. :)

;D Magnets still okay - but dont force too much if your weapon is so heavy - it will damage and might lose the tightness of your ball-joint - correct me if im wrong. Since its only good for display, then just use any object to hold for it. Trust me....

NO PAIN - NO GAIN >:)

Magnets are a technique I have yet to try for joints. I usually do some well placed screws (very small screws like from eye glasses) to either clamp the joint tighter or to go straight in the joint either way adds the friction needed to hold steady and also alows for future posing that can be changed. I can't see myself how magnets can work for a joint because they are either connected or repelling each other, no in-between. Hope this might help.
