1/100 Gaedrigg
« on: January 28, 2010, 03:41:47 am »
Hey all,
This is the rough initial concept line drawing for my project Gaedrigg Heavy Armor Space Type.  It is going to be roughly as tall as the MG Sazabi.  It will have legs that invert like a dog or chickens, (under the armor) and have heavy armor, a giant laser focusing crystal in the chest, a thruster fin on the upper back, two propellant tanks like Hi Nu, or Sinanju, and a humongous battleship cannon on it's shoulder.  It will kind of look like a battle chicken.  It's for my stop motion movie though, the V'Trall is the medium speed and armor, the Gelbrecht is the light armor high speed, and this is the low speed high armor type.  They are all three aboard the same ship the Alexandretta.  Well as I put my plans together for this bad boy the line drawings will get better.  I will post as I update the work.  This might take a few months.  Well despite the fact that there is little of substance other than my line drawing, enjoy!

I messed up my line drawing on the second go with the weathering pencil, but oh well.  Ya can get the idea of the shapes.  I'm still not sure if I want to keep the legs as big as in the first one or not.  We'll see come build time.  I just updated the core and arm shapes a little.  I also added the rotation cylinder on the abdomen.

'bout the legs, how about making them even bigger/ longer adn you can also add some cannons on them, kinda like on DOM Tropen or Xamel, and that brings me to another thing - the shoulder Cannon - how about making in similar to Xamel's one? I mean that it would be stored in a similar way when not in use (if You ever played any Armored Core game think of grenade launchers from it), or maybe YOu were thinking of something similar to Deepstriker?
With enough tape anything is possible!

Show me a pic of the armored core thing if ya would. I dunno what that looks like. The leg idea I like. I'll see howbig I can make and still male it work. The shoulder cannon I guess is like deep striker, just not as futuristic. I wanted big artillery. The chest is where the doom lasers come from. Hehe. Thanks for yer help mate.

Armored Core is a series of games for PS 1, 2, 3 and XBox 360, there are also model kits made by Kotobukiya

The cannon will be kinda like the green one. Just thicker. More squared also. Mine will have an extra recoil absorber up top and a stabilizer on the end. Also hydraulic lifts to support it on the front of the body. I do like the cylinders from those kits. Hmmmm. I meant kotobukiya joint parts that they sell on sprues just for scratchbuilders though. This is interesting as far as some parts I may need however.  Thanks man

I am relieved.  Today I did the hard part of making the leg structures.  I used the joints that came with the sazabi kit, I just sawed them off where I wanted and made my own leg frames from styrene rods.  I made them both the same size easily enough too which was surprising, at least for a first try.  I have set aside one fuel tank from my nightingale conversion kit to cast to make some for this kit, but I don't know if I really think they are too big for what I want.  I might use some skinnier ones like from the Sinanju kit.  I want to use the large triple bell thruster from my mechaskunk order for the main thruster.  I also need to build the main laser in the chest around a yellow LED, and one in the mono eye.  I remade the arms to look the way I think they should, and that leaves not much to do to detail them up.  I just need to add some small cannons and such.  I might straighten some angles though.  I might try at the head unit tonight or maybe the chest.  What I thought would be the hard part is over though.  They are actually quite stable and because of a bump stop I put right near the joint the knees can stay bent and fully support him well.  The joints are tight enough to do that anyway, but that might change with the added weight of all the armor I'm going to add.  I'm not sure as of yet if I want to make the main cannon and barrel a square barrel or round yet, we'll see as I try making it.  For now, enjoy.
