This is my very first review of any gundam kit so please bear with me, also, i am a fairly inexperianced modeler with almost no money so painting the kit and other things like that are not done... i wish i had someone to help me with all that but oh well...
i have recently accomplished building the PG Wing Gundam Zero Custom model kit as out of the box, no paint or glue but i may get around to it later. the colors on the kit are very nice, no markings or swirls or any discoloration to my knowledge. the frame is a little lacking in color straight out of the box, so i reccomend this to modellers who plan on painting the kit. joints and articulation are great but lacking in the legs when the gundam would move its legs straight out as if to do a split, also, shoulder joints are a little weak so be careful not to overtighten them or you will ruin the moving parts of the joint. building the kit was very fun. the complexity of the inner frame never failed to amaze me, being the first inner frame with actual moving parts (besides the joints) that i have ever made. the only thing i have against the frame design, besides the shoulder joints, is the way they atained articulation in the abdomen. all it is is a small cast rod with a ball joint at each end. so it looks extremely thin when the kit is completely "naked". after i finished wiring the kit, which was a huge pain but not too aweful bad, the eyes and chest lights where a very nice adition to the kit. once the armor was on completely it looks extremely nice, seem lines seem to be pannel lines most of the time and are hard to pick out. armor on the shoulder likes to pop off a lot so be prepared to replace it almost every time you move the arms. the skirt armor was my biggest concern. the material the skirt holder was made of was quite brittel on the sides and front. from simple use my skirt broke off after a little stress so be extremely careful. the two last things i have to tell about this kit are the wings and the weapons, the wings are not that great... the joints wear down very quickly if you dont use any precautions and the smaller wings when opened up come out like a switchblade knife, which was cool, but that wore out quickley and wont slide shut and latch properly... but too look at the wings are very nice, the one other thing is that the kit is EXTREMELY back heavy, so be prepared not to be able to pose it a lot, you need to compensate by putting th larger wings in front of the kit or using them as 3rd and 4th legs. the feathers on the wings are rubber with a metal inside and are fully posable themselves so that is a nice feature. the weaponry on the kit includes the shoulder vulcans, twin buster rifles, and two beam sabers. the beam sabers are huge, standing about as tall as the kit themselves and are very well made, the vulcans are nice but dont open too well so you have to fidget with them to get them looking right, and the twin buster rifles are HUGE. all the weapons have a small fold out pin that enters a slot in the hand so it holds very well. having each finger individually jointed is also a plus so you can hold just about anything in any pose you want to.
overall i would feel fair giving this kit a 3.5 out of 5. i am very happy with it but it dissapoints in the above ways. its a kit for an advanced modeller, but i was able to build it easily, taking about 20-24 hours straight (besides meals and sleep) and that was only the normal build, like i said no paint or glue. be prepared to build it and set it somewhere, moving it and posing it is hard and isnt somethhing you cant actually "play" with. also, stripping the armor off is a real pain since you actually have to take the arm and the abdomen apart to get certain pieces off, as well as unwiring it to take the back piece off.
Well, thats my review, im sorry its probably not that great since im inexperianced in both reviews and modelling, but im hoping to learn and i would like you guys here at bakuc to be a part of it. thanks for reading!
