Hey all,
I haven't quite wrapped up the V'Trall project yet, but while I'm working on redoing the backpack to add another large thruster and such, I've felt the overwhelming desire to start a new mech I've been thinking on lately. I will call it the Gelbrecht. I'm using a MG Strike I.W.S.P. for the skeleton, and I have so far scratch built a head (I did use a spare pc ball joint part), made a decent enough line drawing (which will need to be updated with my newer ideas from today and such, and made the basic armor for the mech's right leg. I did use the ball joint from the foot also to connect my scratch built foot. All parts are removable and castable, with the exception of the knee. But the parts do all fit together and allow full range of motioin so far. Oh and the anklets are scratch built also. I didn't use the old ones as they are flimsy and such. Not enough room there also to add to another piece. Made more sense to make new ones. I have once again used the idea of calf thrusters with air intakes on the sides as I think all mechs that fly would have this as part of the design. My scribble sketch is the most recent idea of what the Gelbrecht will look like, but the chest won't come out quite as far as in the scribbling. I might make the crotch piece light up blue also to stick with my theme of lighted power cores. I also think it might be a lot of fun to engineer a way for my scratch built cockpit to open and move. Well for the moment this is what I've accomplished. Again it is freezing in our garage, so I am cold as crap, but it has been worth it so far. Oh and I think I'm going to give him a giant laser eye on this headdress along with maybe a small vulcan, and he will have a rifle and a large sword, similar to what the jinn's had on seed. I was going to use the I.W.S.P. backpack and just take the parts I liked and use them, but what I built broke when it fell on the ground so I will just probably scratch build one. This should give me the opportunity to make the joints stronger. I am using mainly just styrene for this project, and using the apoxy to fill when it's needed. I am looking forward to this project a lot, and hopefully I can finish the V'Trall relatively soon. Enjoy!
