1:144 ZZ Gundam prototype (Titans color scheme)...
« on: October 15, 2009, 12:42:38 am »
Hi guys,

A few weeks ago a friend came over and went though my large bits box for his kits and pulled out all of my old ZZ parts and other bits and pieces for his HG ZZ kit. I let him run off with the legs and gun and kept whats in the picture below (one shields was also used on one of my kits). I'm not a fan of the ZZ design (to fat) but would like to restore this kit in a thinner form (yet still chuncky-ish). I will also use different weapons (I also don't like the ZZ weapons)...

The plan is to scrap this Stargazer strike dagger kit which I picked up for $5 from a friend and styrene to build my own ZZ in a Titan color scheme...

As always now I look forward to seeing the progress. I liked your most recent posted work on the Z'Gok a lot.

That large scratch build of your is comming along nicely plus awesome work on learning to cast in resin. I am looking foward to it being finished...

Does't look like much but I have mounted the legs and head. So far im working on the arms...

Thanks for the support mate.  I saw your big zam and it looks spot on.  I know what you mean with kind of losing interest and jumping around between projects.  I guess that's why we always have so many we're working on at once.  :)

More updates:

So far everything is connected via polly caps though the strike dagger with only the torse belonging to the double zeta. The fore arm and shoulders of the ZZ were glued to the daggers arms whicher were much nicer kit wise then the complete ZZ arms. Now I have to change the apperance of the dagger into a UC gundam...
(Mmm.. Been there before)

The sheild is really cool, with a little work it can be original looking. Nice big mega partical cannon mounted on head...

Connection between upper body and hips, there is a polly cap under all that putty...

I guess that's why we always have so many we're working on at once.  :)

To get by this I only have two projects on the go at once. I would hate to have several kits started...

Another update:

Did a bit of work, its hard to find time between work/ Friday night drinks and planning for a holiday in December. A lot of work has been done on the feet, upper legs, mid hips crutch and head. Also pieces collected for the lower leg...

The two box parts around the crutch area were extended...

Parts collected from HG Duel and MG Destiny for the feet, head and legs...

I really disliked the feet on the dagger and original kit plus nothing in my bits box would fit the bill. So after hours of cutting and grinding I've made a basic shape I like. A lot more work is required...

The head was also bulked up with extra V-fins, head cannon and round pieces on the sides...

Upper legs knee joints...

The next major area of work is on the back pack and lower legs...

TsIT's starting to really come together. I like the feet the most.

Big update:

I want this kit to be my work to date so this will take awhile to finish. I have to prime, putty then sand the feet several times and they are still not perfect. The coolest point of the ZZ Gundam are the feet and legs which the two existing kits do not look right in this department. This effort will be very worth while in the end...

At this stage anything with a seam line has been filled and the knee bar-thing scratch built...

How far this has gone...
So far this is all the parts I will use but I still have a lot of work too do. This project is on hold until next year...

Hi guys,
Sorry for neglecting my usual wip threads, I've got some projects on the go including my youtube channel/ model club and working towards my bakuc entry. I have deiced this kit will be my main entry for bakuc Australia which is 4 months away...

A lot has happened from my last post including one of the legs being destroyed and reordered which is setting me back and forcing my attention on the torso. So far I've scratched a gun, added mounting points for the shield and gun, added after market detailing pieces across the body, added extra fule tanks with a ball joint, scratched the side skirt and a lot of putty and extra bits...

I hope to do more update more often, thanks...

Most of the work has been done to the legs. A little more work is need then all I have to do is refine and prime it. I should have this done by August easily for Bakuc Australia...

Nope I'm not dead-well not yet at least but I think this project will kill me :P

The build stage is 99% done besides two vents and 6 pieces or styrene that needs to be glued down for detail. I'm priming all the pieces tonight and ready for refinement before painting. I have less then a month and a half to get this finished for Sydney BAKUC...

It will be displayed like this on the day...

Shield gimmick

Mega particle cannon can also be hand mounted

Also back mounted with other shield

Parts break down

Larger parts masked with blu tack and ready for primer
